Artificial intelligence and Big Data are not a side interest at FIT — Futures of Innovation Technologies — but its declared specialisation, and that focus sets the Brașov-based hub apart within Romania's EDIH landscape. Serving the Centru region under the coordination of Iceberg Plus, FIT counts twelve partners, ranging from universities such as UMFST Târgu Mureș and ULB Sibiu to technology companies like NTT DATA România and ROPARDO, plus CNIPMMR, and its stated goal is measurable, if published twice: the European Commission's EDIH catalogue records a target of 131 SMEs and public organisations, while the hub's own site breaks the same commitment down into 124 SMEs and 17 local public authorities, with applications in smart city, manufacturing and e-health. Like every hub in the network, FIT provides services — technology testing before any investment, training, orientation towards funding, networking — rather than cash grants, with access following the service scheme published on digitalinnovationhub.fit. Northdan Soft does not belong to the consortium: our role begins after the FIT journey, when the hub's recommendations have to become real software — from a validated AI pilot to a delivered application, complete with a technical offer and a budget on eligible costs.

How we help
An AI pilot with no purchase commitment
You can validate an AI or Big Data use case on your company's own data, with the support of FIT specialists, before signing any implementation contract.
Access to 12 academic and technology partners
The consortium unites universities, software companies and employer organisations — a single entry point to the digital expertise of the Centru region.
Training and funding orientation included
Beyond testing, FIT trains your team and guides you to the calls suited to your investment, from the Centru regional programmes to the national ones.
A natural continuation towards implementation
When the FIT pilot confirms the direction, Northdan Soft develops the production solution: AI integration, process digitalization, the final application, with a budget prepared for financing.
The FIT consortium and the region it serves
FIT EDIH operates in Brașov and serves the Centru region. The consortium coordinator is Iceberg Plus, and its 12 partners include UMFST Târgu Mureș, ULB Sibiu, NTT DATA România, ROPARDO and CNIPMMR — a combination of academia, the software industry and SME representation.
The hub's fiche states a clear target: raising digital maturity for 131 SMEs and public organisations in the region, focused on AI and Big Data as transversal technologies and on the key enabling technologies (KET).
Services for companies: from assessment to pilot
A typical journey starts with an assessment of your company's digital maturity, continues with testing a technology on a concrete scenario — an AI model on your production data, a Big Data analysis on your sales flows — and ends with investment recommendations and orientation towards the suitable funding sources.
The declared application domains are smart city, manufacturing and e-health, but the services stand open to SMEs from any sector of the Centru region, in line with the hub's service scheme. FIT wires no money to companies: support comes exclusively as subsidised services.
Northdan Soft's role after the FIT journey
A successful pilot remains a pilot until someone takes it into production. That is where we come in, as a software vendor independent of the hub: we take the FIT recommendations and build the final solution — AI integration, automations, business applications — with specifications, a technical offer and an eligible-cost budget.
On the funding side, one date matters: POCIDIF Action 2.4, the call through which SMEs received digitalization services via the EDIH hubs, closed on 25 October 2023. The live route is Action 6.1, open between 30 April 2026 and 30 December 2026 with an allocation of 20,918,624.37 euro, and the call names FIT EDIH — with Iceberg Plus SRL as partnership leader — among its seven eligible applicants. The applicant is the hub, not your company; your own investment is financed through separate calls.
Frequently asked questions
Who can work with FIT EDIH Brașov?
SMEs and public organisations from the Centru region — the counties the hub serves —, whatever their sector, with priority on smart city, manufacturing and e-health applications. Registration conditions are published on digitalinnovationhub.fit.
How much does an AI test through FIT cost me?
The hub's services are subsidised through the Digital Europe Programme and national co-financing, so free or low-cost for beneficiaries in line with the hub's service scheme — the exact subsidy level is confirmed when you enrol.
Will FIT finance the development of the recommended application?
No, the hub stops at services: testing, training, orientation. You contract the actual development with a vendor — Northdan Soft, for instance — and can finance it through calls such as those under POCIDIF or the Centru Regional Programme.
What does the hub's target of 131 organisations mean?
It is the objective stated in the EC catalogue fiche: raising digital maturity for 131 SMEs and public organisations in the Centru region. The hub's own site publishes a different breakdown — 124 SMEs plus 17 local public authorities — so we print both figures rather than averaging them. Either way it is a capacity indicator, not an enrolment guarantee.
