A technical university sits at the helm of the North-East's EDIH: eDIH-DIZ, the Digital Innovation Zone, is coordinated by the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași with a stated mission to accelerate the region's digital and green transformation. Nine partners give the consortium its distinctive double profile of manufacturing and smart health — ADR Nord-Est, the agency that knows the regional economy from the inside, software companies Grapefruit and StrongBytes, the IMAGO-MOL medical imaging cluster and UMF Iași. Beyond those two pillars, the hub also serves public administration, textiles, transport and automotive, and its technology toolbox runs from AI and digital twins to IoT, VR, cloud and robotics. Support takes one form only: subsidised services — testing before investing, training, orientation towards finance — as defined in the hub's service scheme, never a grant paid out in money to the beneficiary. Once the diagnosis is complete, Northdan Soft carries the project forward as a vendor, building the recommended solution and handing over the technical offer plus an eligible-cost budget for the targeted call.

How we help

Digital twins and IoT tested on your factory

eDIH-DIZ lets you trial production technologies — digital twins, IoT sensors, robotics — on a concrete scenario from your company before budgeting the investment.

Rare medical competences via IMAGO-MOL and UMF

For health-sector companies, having the IMAGO-MOL cluster and UMF Iași in the consortium brings smart-health expertise that is hard to find anywhere else.

Plugged into the North-East funding ecosystem

With ADR Nord-Est as a partner, the hub naturally steers you towards the regional and national calls able to support the investment emerging from the digital diagnosis.

Commercial implementation by a dedicated vendor

Northdan Soft turns eDIH-DIZ recommendations into delivered systems — process automation, AI integration — with the technical documentation the financier expects.

The consortium around the Iași polytechnic

eDIH-DIZ operates in Iași under the coordination of the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University, with 9 partners including ADR Nord-Est, Grapefruit, StrongBytes, the IMAGO-MOL cluster and UMF Iași. The combination of technical university, medical university, development agency and software firms defines the hub's dual profile: manufacturing and smart health.

The territory served is the North-East region, and the assumed mission is the digital and green transformation of the region — from factories and textile workshops to hospitals and local administrations.

The services: from the lab straight into the company

Companies in manufacturing, textiles, transport, automotive or health can access technology testing — AI, digital twins, IoT, VR, cloud, robotics — on real cases, training sessions for their teams and orientation towards the suitable funding sources. Public bodies in the North-East are beneficiaries too, and in 2026 they came first: on 23 June 2026 ADR Nord-Est announced the hub's first support-services call under the eDIH-DIZ 2.0 banner, open exclusively to public entities with no economic activity, 100% subsidised and allocated first-come-first-served.

Not a leu is wired to the company: eDIH-DIZ subsidises the services, not the investments. Access conditions and the calendar are verified on digital-innovation.zone, in line with the hub's service scheme.

From the DIZ diagnosis to a running system

Northdan Soft is not part of the Iași consortium and does not deliver the hub's services. We step in as a vendor after the EDIH journey: we turn the diagnosis report into production software — workflow automation, AI integrated into processes, applications for traceability or planning.

On the funding side, one date matters: POCIDIF Action 2.4, the call that financed SME digitalization through the EDIH hubs, was open from 25 August 2023 to 25 October 2023 and is now inactive. The live route is Action 6.1, open to the seven STEP-sealed hubs from 30 April 2026 to 30 December 2026 with an allocation of 20,918,624.37 euro — and its eligible applicant is the hub, not your company. Your own investment is financed separately, for instance through the North-East regional SME digitalization call.

Frequently asked questions

Which sectors does eDIH-DIZ in Iași cover?

Smart health, manufacturing, public administration, textiles, transport and automotive — with testing technologies spanning AI, digital twins, IoT, VR, cloud and robotics, for organisations across the whole North-East region.

Do I pay for the digital diagnosis the hub performs?

The diagnosis and the other services are subsidised through the Digital Europe Programme and national co-financing; the exact regime — free or partly subsidised — is confirmed at registration, in line with the hub's service scheme, on digital-innovation.zone.

Can the hub pay for my ERP or MES implementation?

No — eDIH-DIZ offers testing, training and orientation services; it does not finance purchases. For implementation you contract a vendor and access an investment call, for example the SME digitalization call of the North-East Regional Programme.

Why does it matter that ADR Nord-Est is a consortium partner?

Because the agency also administers the regional digitalization calls: funding orientation therefore comes from an organisation that knows from the inside which support lines are available to North-East companies.
