Session 1 of the fourth edition of Start-Up Nation România (Romania's flagship start-up grant programme) closed on 29 May 2026, but the story continues: MEDAT, the Ministry of Economy, has officially announced a second session, motivated by the places left available after session 1. As at 30 July 2026 the exact calendar had not been published, although the sequence of steps is known — first the entrepreneurship course, then the submission of funding applications. Support remains up to RON 250,000, and the general deadline for completing expenditure is 8 December 2027. Good news for digital businesses: a presentation website, an online store, management software and IT equipment can all be written into the business plan. What MEDAT officially announced about session 2

Session 1 of edition 4 closed on 29 May 2026. MEDAT has officially confirmed that session 2 will be organised, motivated by the places left available, but has not published the running dates: as at 30 July 2026 there was no submission window.

The order of steps is set: participants first complete the entrepreneurship course, then the submission of funding applications opens. Follow MEDAT's announcements for the exact calendar — any other date in circulation is speculation.

Which digital component you can put in the business plan

In the 2017, 2018-2019 and 2022 editions a presentation website, an online store, software needed for the activity and IT equipment were among the costs detailed in the business plan, each under the ceilings of that year's procedure. What session 2 admits, and with which ceilings, is read in its own procedure once MEDAT publishes it.

A plan with a well-scoped digital component shows the evaluator that you know exactly what you are buying and why. Generic offers, with no specifications or detailed functionality, stand out immediately at evaluation.

How to use the waiting period

Until the calendar is published, define the digital component: what the website or online store does, which flows the management software covers, which IT equipment supports the activity. The result: a technical offer and budget ready to drop into the plan.

The ceiling announced for session 2 is RON 250,000; the RON 200,000 figure still circulating belonged to the 2017, 2018-2019 and 2022 editions, all closed. When MEDAT announces the dates, you simply finalise the dossier.
