Digitalization grants in 2026, sorted by their actual status

All relevant digitalization grants of 2026, sorted into three honest buckets: open, announced and already in implementation.

Northdan Soft is a software supplier, not a funding consultancy, and is not affiliated with any managing authority or development agency. Programme information is indicative — always check the conditions in the programme's official applicant guide.

Think of Romania's 2026 digitalization grant landscape as a ledger with three columns rather than a long menu of opportunities. Under “open” sit two national schemes: POCIDIF 2.1, taking applications until 30 September 2026 from SMEs holding an IT&C CAEN code, and SME Eco-Tech, the Swiss-funded scheme that since July 2026 covers manufacturing, trade and services alike, active until 24 September 2026. Under “announced” you find Start-Up Nation session 2, confirmed by MEDAT with no dates published, next to the POCIDIF guarantee instrument, whose financial intermediaries are still being selected. The “in implementation” column is the busiest: PNRR C9, PTJ and the Femeia Antreprenor (Women Entrepreneur) programme are executing projects already contracted, against firm completion deadlines. Northdan Soft delivers the software component in any of these scenarios — from the specifications that go into the application file to the paperwork behind the final reimbursement claim.

How we help

Verified statuses, not marketing

We never present closed calls as opportunities; you learn exactly what stage each scheme is at before investing time or money.

Specifications ready for the application file

You receive a technical description of the software solution phrased in the language the guides require, usable directly by the consultant drafting the application.

One partner for all the software

ERP, online store or custom application: we develop the entire solution in-house, so you are not juggling three vendors at acceptance and reimbursement.

The “open” column: where applications are still possible

POCIDIF 2.1 stays active until 30 September 2026 at 17:00, with non-repayable aid starting at 200,000 EUR and reaching 1,500,000 EUR where the project result is an innovative software solution. The 3,000,000 EUR ceiling quoted in most headlines belongs to projects whose result is an innovative hardware product manufactured by the beneficiary. The hard filter: only companies with an authorised IT&C CAEN code may apply.

SME Eco-Tech, backed by Swiss funds, receives files until 24 September 2026 at 20:00. Support reaches at most 40% of eligible costs, capped at 50,000 CHF — around 267,240 RON — and since the order published in Official Gazette no. 558 of 7 July 2026 it addresses trade and services as well as manufacturing, micro-enterprises included where they meet the age and turnover conditions.

A third window exists, but it is not a Romanian scheme: the 2026 round of the Digital Europe Programme, managed directly by the European Commission with no national managing authority, closes on 1 October 2026 at 17:00 CEST. Its calls fund advanced digital skills, technology uptake and data infrastructure, usually through transnational consortia rather than the digitalization of a single company, which is why it sits outside the comparison above.

The “announced” column: what is being prepared

MEDAT has officially confirmed session 2 of the Start-Up Nation programme, with financing of up to 250,000 RON, but has not yet published an application calendar. New editions of the Microindustrialization and Trade programmes remain conditional on the ministry's 2026 budget.

The POCIDIF guarantee instrument combined with a grant, allocated 573,945,327.60 RON, is in the phase of selecting financial intermediaries and lists no partner bank yet, so it cannot be contracted. This is precisely the window for clarifying your software needs: whoever defines the project now applies without panic once a route opens.

The “in implementation” column: grants being executed right now

PNRR C9 beneficiaries are racing the clock: implementation had to be completed by 30 June 2026 under Order MIPE 607/2026, with 31 July 2026 applying only to projects that filed an extension request in time, and payments running until 30 October 2026 under Order 963/2026. PTJ is running projects in the six eligible counties, and the Femeia Antreprenor programme is in its payment phase.

For all these contracts, Northdan takes over software development and delivery within the committed schedule, together with the acceptance documents the reimbursement claim requires. We do not write the application and we do not step into your relationship with the managing authority.

Frequently asked questions

Which digitalization grants still accept applications in the second half of 2026?

Two national schemes: POCIDIF 2.1 (until 30 September 2026, IT&C CAEN companies only) and SME Eco-Tech (until 24 September 2026, manufacturing, trade and services). Both carry eliminatory criteria, so verify your eligibility before anything else. Separately, the 2026 round of the Digital Europe Programme, run directly by the European Commission, closes on 1 October 2026.

Will Microindustrialization or the Trade programme launch again in 2026?

Both MEDAT programmes are conditional on the budget available for 2026, and a launch is not guaranteed. The only trustworthy source is the ministry's official announcements; we track them and update our pages at every change.

I already have a contracted grant. What role can Northdan play now?

The vendor role: we develop the software solution described in your project, deliver within the deadline of the financing contract and hand over the acceptance protocols and reports your reimbursement claim needs. We never step into your relationship with the managing authority.
