What is Web Hosting?
The rented space on an always-on, internet-connected server where your website's files and database live.
Your website has to physically live somewhere: on a server that stays powered on and connected through serious network lines — and web hosting is the rent you pay for that space. The market sells several comfort levels. Shared hosting puts many tenants on one machine: cheap, fine for a brochure site, though noisy neighbors can slow you down. A VPS reserves you a dedicated share of one machine — the sensible upgrade once the site matters. Dedicated machines and cloud plans serve stores and applications with real traffic, and "managed" variants add the provider handling updates, security and backups for you. What makes hosting worth an owner's attention is the asymmetry: a small monthly cost carrying large consequences, because on it rest your page speed (visible in Google rankings and conversions), your uptime (every hour a store is down is revenue lost) and part of your security posture. Warning signs it is time to move: recurring slowdowns, mysterious outages, support that answers in days, backups that exist only as a promise. Two closing rules: keep the domain and the hosting as separate services under accounts the company owns, and verify the host's backups rather than assuming them.

Should the servers be in our own country or abroad?

What does "unlimited" mean in cheap hosting offers?
Marketing with an asterisk: "unlimited" storage and traffic are capped in practice by the CPU and memory allocated — exactly the resources that matter and that are strictly limited on cheap shared plans. Compare offers on guaranteed resources and on what happens when you exceed them, not on the magic word.
Can we move the site to another host without breaking it?
Yes — it is routine work for a specialist: copy files and database, test on the new server, switch DNS with minimal or zero downtime. The precondition that keeps it painless: you hold access to every account involved — old host and domain registrar — another argument for company ownership of both.
