What are Core Web Vitals?
The three metrics through which Google grades the experience on your site: loading speed, responsiveness and visual stability.
Google turned user frustration into numbers. Core Web Vitals are three metrics measured on your site's real visitors: LCP, how long the main content takes to appear, with a target under 2.5 seconds; INP, how quickly the page reacts to taps and clicks, under 200 milliseconds; and CLS, how much the content jumps around while loading, scored under 0.1 — because nobody enjoys reaching for a button and hitting the advert that has just pushed it aside. The scores count twice for your business. As a ranking signal, where comparable content leaves the better experience with the advantage. And more directly, in conversion, since every additional second of waiting measurably cuts sales, especially on mobile where most browsing now happens. Checking is free through PageSpeed Insights and Search Console, and the usual culprits are the same everywhere: oversized images, marketing scripts piled on top of each other, weak hosting and bloated themes. All of them are fixable, and a site built properly starts green on day one.

Why it matters for your business
A direct advantage in search
With similar content, Google favours the site whose measured experience is better — green scores are positions won without producing a word of new content.
Conversions saved from abandonment
Visitors do not wait: improvements in real-world speed show up as a percentage change in completed baskets and submitted forms.
An objective check on your supplier
The scores are public and measurable, so you can verify the technical quality of a delivered site in black and white instead of taking anyone's word for it.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I see my Core Web Vitals scores?
Free, in two places: PageSpeed Insights for any single address, showing both lab and real-user data, and the dedicated report in Google Search Console for the whole site, grouped by page type. What counts for ranking is the field data collected from actual visitors.
What most often ruins a company site's scores?
A predictable list: unoptimised images uploaded at print resolution, dozens of marketing and chat scripts accumulated over the years, fonts that block rendering, cheap slow hosting, and banners that shove content around. A technical audit takes them in order, and the first two usually deliver the biggest jump.
Do perfect scores mean first place in Google?
No. Relevant content and domain authority weigh far more; the vitals are a tie-breaker and a matter of hygiene rather than a magic wand. Treat them as a threshold: below it you lose both rankings and customers, above it the contest moves back to content.
